The news was initially reported by Deadline before he confirmed it. According to the report, the series Com+Well will feature six-episodes beginning Aug. 18.
Filmed in his home, the series will feature guests including lifestyle influencer Grace Harry, life coach Yancy Berry and urban gardener Ron Finley, according to Deadline. The conversations were filmed virtually and content ranges from workouts, cooking, and gardening.
“Peace y’all! I want to introduce you to my new show, Com+Well which is a health and wellness series that will look at a holistic approach to the state of being healthy,” he writes on Instagram, along with a video introducing the new endeavor to his followers.
“I believe deeply that the more at peace you are with yourself, the more love and compassion you are able to put out into the world,” Common says to Deadline.
“Now more than ever the world needs love and mindfulness towards one another. The Black community needs love, the brown community needs love. Really, we all need it. I created Com&Well to share the self-care knowledge and tools I’ve had access to and live by with my community.”
The first episode is now live on the platform providing some background for the series for viewers who may not be aware of his previous work as a rapper, actor, or author.
He even gives his audience a kitchen tour, including a deep dive into what is and is not inside the refrigerator.
“Green juice is essential,” he says grabbing a bottle from the middle shelf. “It’s basically like liquid energy.” The video then details the benefits of drinking the blend as well as the typical fruit and vegetables included.
Common goes on to admit that while he loves food he cannot cook and hires a chef to prepare his favorite meals.
